It’s that time of the year again: already 2 season’s greetings nearly ended up in my spam folder. Both emails consisted of not much more than a nice postcard-style image.

Many more will likely end up in spam or get deleted on sight (by accident!).

How not to send season's greetings

Here are two simple pieces of advice to increase chances of your kind words to actually get read:

(1) Don’t rely on images alone to convey your message

Most email applications won’t show the image when the email arrives. Write a nice sentence and put your postcard image underneath.

(2) Avoid putting all your contacts in CC or BCC with an impersonal TO name

Make yourself comfortable and put some Christmas tunes on the background. With a bit of preparation you can send out 50 individual emails in 10 minutes.

I’m sure your friends and customers will appreciate the effort.
